Kanji structure (4)

On the top or crown (kanmuri):

(たけ)meaning bamboo, gets shortened when it is used as a crown radical.

Here is another interesting example (no radical jokes - I promise):

(くだ)means pipe/control.  It gets its meaning through combining (かん)pierce, with bamboo.  Thus, a pierced bamboo pipe through which sound is controlled.

Simple!
