Cloud

Reading:  UN, kumo

Etymology: Over time, the lower character came to mean billowing vapours.  The upper character, rain, was added to emphasise the meaning of cloud.

Hint: Rain + two (二)+ noses.

Mnemonic:  BILLOWING RAIN CLOUDS LOOK LIKE TWO NOSES!

Combinations:

浮き雲 (ukigumo) drifting cloud
